Captain America was always depicted as a patriotic version and is shown fighting with the powers of the World War II and hence this character was the most famous during the period of 1940s wartime. The popularity of this character faded after the war period and hence it was discontinued in the 1950s. It was at a later stage that this was re introduced by Marvel comics at the time of Silver Age comics. He was at this stage introduced as an MIA solider who is retrieved from an ice berg and is awakened from a suspended animation by the team of Avengers.
